The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Cluster: A National Initiative Established in 2005 by the Health Industry Promotion Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Cluster was launched to advance Korea’s healthcare industry as a pillar of national economic growth. In August 2009, Daegu (Gyeongbuk Province) and Osong (Chungbuk Province) were designated as the official sites for this ambitious medical cluster.

By providing a world-class research environment, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Cluster fosters innovation in the development and production of cutting-edge pharmaceuticals and medical devices. It serves as a key hub for both national and regional growth, enhancing Korea’s global competitiveness in healthcare R&D.

KMEDIhub: The Core of Medivalley Since 2013, KMEDIhub has invested KRW 4.6 trillion in Medivalley, establishing state-of-the-art research facilities within the Daegu Innovative City (Sinseo-dong, Dong-gu). This 103-square-meter (4.22-million-square-meter) site houses four core research centers: New Drug Development Center, Medical Device Development Center, Preclinical Research Center and Drug Manufacturing Center Additionally, the investment has funded the construction of a Communication Center, operated by KMEDIhub, and has successfully attracted both government-sponsored and private research institutes.
